What is a speech-language pathologist (SLP)?

An SLP (also referred to as "speech therapist") works to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, swallowing, cognitive communication, and/or feeding disorders in infants through adults.

Will my insurance cover my visit?

We  accept Medicare and Medicare secondary insurances. We work with Medicare Advantage plans.

​

Other insurance plans will not be accepted. We recommend contacting your insurance company prior to starting therapy to learn what is covered for out-of-network outpatient services. An itemized therapy invoice can be provided after each session, which may be used to apply for insurance reimbursement. If your insurance requires specific details, please let your therapist know.

Where will therapy be conducted?

In-person sessions: Available to clients residing in Montgomery County, Maryland and some locations in Washington, DC.

Virtual sessions:  May be available for clients residing in Maryland or Washington, DC.

All virtual sessions are HIPAA-protected.

For Medicare clients, most treatment areas can be addressed virtually. Swallowing/dysphagia therapy must be in-person.

What safety precautions will be taken in light of COVID-19?

• We are fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

• For in-person sessions, we will wear face coverings, when appropriate,  and perform safety and sanitation procedures before, during, and after all sessions.

• We are happy to find unique ways to make all individuals comfortable and safe. We can even do therapy sessions outside, weather permitting!

Does my child need speech therapy?

There are many factors that may lead to a speech therapy referral.

How long is my therapy session?

Initial conversations are 15 minutes or less. 

Evaluations are typically 1 hour. 

Repeat visits and progress visits, to re-assess how the client is performing, range from 30-60 minutes.
